How is this fair?

It’s fair because those 74 rich people work HARD for the money the make. They don’t sit on their butts all day while their maids dump bags of money in a spare room for them to roll around in later. We, as citizens of the United States of America, are given equal opportunities. The fact that wealthy people take advantage of those opportunities is not unfair at all and they should certainly not be criticized for it.Criticizing people for being too rich is like criticizing the class valedictorian for being too smart. I’m pretty sure we can all agree that that would be absolutely ridiculous, right? So why do people think it’s completely reasonable to complain about the amount of money that other people work hard for? It’s not right. It’s stupid and I’m tired of hearing people whine about this stuff. If you want to be rich, you can be. It’ll take a lot of hard work and dedication, but you can make it to the top if you really want to so quit whining about things being unfair.

You are so right.

“If you want to be rich, you can be.”

Let’s illustrate the absurdity of this statement, and many others in that commentary, with a chart:

(Courtesy of Ilya’s informative economic mobility posts)

it’s a common misconception that the people who are rich have worked hard to earn it. in fact almost all of them came into an inheritance of boatloads of money. so actually, when they were babies they already had spare rooms of cash for them to roll around in.
